Project Description

A prototyping workflow that helps members move from an idea to a physical part. It supports robotics, embedded systems and product design projects.

Supervisor: NEXUS Project Team

Hardware / Material

  • PLA filament
  • 3D printer
  • Caliper
  • CAD model
  • Slicing software
  • Prototype screws

Technologies Used

SolidWorksSTL exportCura slicingLayer height tuningPrint bed calibration

Build Steps

  1. Sketch the mechanical need and define constraints.
  2. Model the part in CAD with exact dimensions.
  3. Export the design as STL.
  4. Prepare print settings in the slicer.
  5. Print and test the part.
  6. Iterate based on fit, strength and usability.
